ACT Kuala Lumpur – Official Closure Notice from the Founder

In 2021, after years of training professionals in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy across Malaysia, I founded ACT Kuala Lumpur (ACTKL), an Australian-registered business name, to serve as a central hub for growing the ACT community in the region.

ACTKL was created from my value of contribution. Its mission was to lead all things ACT in Malaysia. ACTKL was founded by me, developed through my professional work, and supported from the beginning by Forepsych Pty Ltd, an Australian company I founded.

As of 26 April 2025, ACT Kuala Lumpur is no longer an active initiative. Its original training and development work has formally ceased. The platform is no longer operational, and any current use of the ACTKL name, logos, or materials is not connected to me and does not reflect the intentions or values that guided its founding and development.

Wan Kah Mun was invited to be associated with ACTKL during its development. While we were still working together, I was not informed of any trademark applications relating to the ACTKL name or logos, either before or after they were filed. I first became aware of any asserted rights over the ACTKL name and logos when legal correspondence was issued to me by Wan Kah Mun. The correspondence named Wan Kah Mun as the business owner and sole director of ACTKL, despite ACTKL not being registered as a business (SSM) under her name, and alleged that my use of the ACTKL name and logos was unauthorised. This prompted me to check Malaysia’s public trademark records, where I discovered that the ACTKL name and logos had been registered as trademarks by Wan Kah Mun.

While those trademark registrations have no bearing on my previous or future work, I have chosen to cease ACTKL operations because I no longer wish my work, name, or professional values to remain associated with Wan Kah Mun. This decision allows me to draw a clear professional boundary and continue my ACT-related work under Forepsych.

I include this context because trademark registration should not be confused with the founding, development, and original stewardship of ACT Kuala Lumpur.

I name Wan Kah Mun here because, to my knowledge, the ACTKL name and logos continue to be used in connection with her work, and I wish to prevent any confusion about my current involvement or endorsement.

While I maintain legal ownership of the Australian business name, I have chosen not to pursue legal action. I stand by my record, and my work will continue under Forepsych.

Thank you everyone for the years of support, trust, and shared vision. If you were once part of the ACTKL community, I hope you carry forward the values of integrity, generosity, and psychological flexibility into all your future work.
